Hi loves! I hope you are safe and doing well! I found myself wondering about what I should talk about in this post, and I thought that I would share with you my thoughts about traveling. As you might know, I am Italian but I live in Germany, so I am quite used to travel to go back home at least three times per year. I also have several friends spread around Europe, and I traveled to different countries to visit them and enjoy their company in different places. So, from what I am telling you guys it looks like I am super confident in traveling without problems. Is that true? Not really. We all have our insecurities and with Covid-19 traveling became quite stressful. Test, regulations, time restrictions, quarantine…I found myself being in the throes of anxiety and in the fear that I would forget something and thinking “maybe I wait until things get better”. If you are experiencing the same fears, you are definitely not alone! Just start slowly to travel again: go to a place where you have been already or maybe not so far from home. It’ll take some time but I am sure that we will be ready to dive into normality again.
To keep calm before my trips, I like to be prepared. Okay, maybe I am a bit of a freak but being organized ensures me that I am prepared for every eventuality. I decided to share with you my travel checklist that I follow each time I need to pack and I adapted it to Covid times.
So let’s get started!
Check the local travel restrictions and what you need to bring with you to avoid problems:
- Negative Covid-19 test
- Surgical/ FFP2 masks
- Registration of entry (paper or digital)
- Hand sanitizer…just in case!
Then comes what is essential (or I am afraid to forget):
- Phone charger
- Phone
- Headphones
- Tickets
- Passport/ID
- Toothbrush
- Night guard for teeth
- Water
And now let’s proceed with the real packing! Before doing anything I check the weather forecast. It’s the best way to plan outfits without packing things that you don’t need. How many times do you come back home with things you didn’t wear? Well, it happened to me several times, and I was really annoyed by it. Now I plan my outfits day by day so that I don’t overpack anymore.
Here is my packing list for a weekend trip, everything fits in a small carry-on or a backpack!
- 3 top garments: they can be shirts, tops, or sweaters according to the season
- 1 pair of jeans/trousers (and I wear a different pair for traveling)
- 1 elegant top for night outs
- Lingerie: Bra (1x), underwear (3x), socks (3x)
- Shoes: I usually go for a pair of sneakers and an elegant pair for night outs
- PJs
- 1 bag (use it to travel to save some space)
- Toiletry kit: toothbrush, toothpaste, face cream, makeup essentials, makeup brushes, makeup remover, hairbrush, perfume
- Book, laptop, or tablet
- If it’s a cold season, you might need a hat, gloves, and a scarf
And now some packing tips:
- Brings garments from the same color palette, in this way they can be mixed and matched in many different ways. You can also take pictures of them so that you already know what to wear when you are enjoying your time at your destination!
- Roll your clothes instead of folding them: in this way they take less space and do not crease.
- Put heavy things at the bottom of your suitcase
- Put things you might need at the top of your suitcase or in a front pocket. For example, if I am going to fly, I always keep my bag with liquids ready to be taken out for the security checks.
- Wear valuable items: if I have a special ring or pair of earrings, I prefer to wear them instead of packing them. If the luggage gets lost, at least I have my precious items with me!
So loves, I hope that these packing tips are useful for you! Let me know in the comments what are your travel essentials. Stay safe and enjoy your small escapes!
With love,
